Primark S/S13 New Season Picks

Coolcatjumper14instore19.2.13

Hi everyone Just a bit of window shopping this morning as Instyle has got pics of a few items that are out this month at Primark and I quite fancy a few of them. Let’s have a look…   “Cool cat jumper” out on Wednesday is definitely the pick of them all. Roll on payday! I love an epic maxi skirt when I can get one. I’m hoping to wear a lot of this kind of outfit this year. I think the studs on this sweater are star shaped. I love the colour and the stitch pattern of this knit. I hope it’s not made of bobbly cheap yarn but I bet it is. I’ll definitely check it out in store though. This blouse is kind of nuts but it’s exactly the kind of mad cat lady gear I wear at home on my own… I picked this because it’s…

Makeup Disasters: To Err Is Human

I think quite a few of us saw a few makeup hiccups on The X Factor on Sunday night, am I right? I think we can take this as a lesson not to cry-off and reapply our makeup 50 times then go on television. However, it definitely doesn’t just happen on TV. This morning I was in something of a hurry and thought I looked ok. Not perfect, but ok.  I was wrong. About 10am I caught my reflection in the mirror. Blusher ALL over my face. So much blusher. WAY too much blusher. I looked stupid. I turned to my Facebook friends for help! Click for bigger… Some commenteers were more help than others   Eventually I buffed it off with tissues and looked relatively normal for the rest of the day – phew! I must admit, this isn’t my first makeup FUBAR. My worst culprit is getting lipstick…

Bee Loves… The Internet!

In a change to our scheduled programming, I’m going to bring you some things from the internet that I have enjoyed lately! I will bring you beauty stuff tomorrow, deal? 1. Being Awesome On The Internet It may be impossible for some to remember a time when it wasn’t cool to like Wil Wheaton. For some of you it may be impossible to remember who he is but since he used to be in Star Trek and has been promoted to a sort of unofficial mayor of certain territories of the internet, if you’re even a little bit geeky, you’ll know who I mean. Well, as long ago as it was, readers, I do remember a time when it was a little bit less cool to like him, but there I was, in 1992, liking him anyway. As a 12 year old kid (and an 11 year old, 10 year…

Lancôme Hypnose Mascara Review

I’m really enjoying all the products from the Lancôme Gift With Purchase I was given for review purposes. You know sometimes when you get a goodie bag and it’s like “This thing is nice but what am I going to do with that?” well, it seems these guys are all winners. It’s good news that it seems the offer has been extended and it is still available at Boots and online when you buy two or more Lancôme products, one to be skincare. Today I tried the travel size (2ml) Hypnose mascara in Noir Hypnotic. I’ve been looking forward to trying this as I loved the mini Hypnose Doll Eyes mascara I got in a previous Gift With Purchase. I applied two coats and this is the result: Hey, good looking lashes! Hubba hubba! It’s not as huge as the Doll Eyes variety but it’s a gorgeous volumising a lengthening effect with no clumps,…

Face Of The Day: Go Drag or Go Home ;)

I’ve been on my own at home for a week now, and I don’t mind telling you, I’ve gone a little strange. Yesterday I decided to dig out some of my brightest eyeshadows and try out a big BIG eye look that would frighten me whenever I caught my reflection in  the mirror for the rest of the day Drag make-up doesn’t come naturally to me, even if I try to channel Annie Lennox while wielding my eyeshadow brush. I’m pretty sure the reason for this is that men’s facial features are, in general, pretty big. My facial features are undeniably pretty small (Eddie Izzard, how I envy you!) giving me a smaller space to fit in all those dramatic curves and highlights a proper show-off eye demands. Given an endless afternoon of nothing to do, I thought I’d give it a shot anyway I only “overdid” the eyes for…

4 Month Blogiversary!

Bee Loves Beauty is 4 months old today! Have I only been doing this for 120 days? Surely it’s longer than that! So much has happened, I’ve painted my nails, ooh, heaps  of times! I really want to thank every one of you who follows me on Hellocotton, Twitter, Facebook and via email. You’re all stars! Since I started I’ve published 109 posts (this will be 110!) I didn’t think I’d be anything like this productive, as I work full time too. I guess I really am obsessed by  do love beauty! Thank you so much to everyone who has commented, I love hearing from you and really value your tips and your experiences. As I’ve been doing this for a little while now, I’d love to know which kind of posts you like best and what you’d like to see more of. Let me know in the comments.  …

If I only wrote one thing in this blog, it would be this:

Everyone can do all beauty things! You own your looks, they don’t own you.   I’ve been wondering what it is that has kept me blogging almost daily for the three-and-a-bit months that I have been at this and today I realised, it’s probably this. I got asked if I was over 18 while buying a pedicure knife today (thanks ma’am!) and it got me thinking, it probably is wise that we are old enough to vote before we are allowed to purchase for ourselves the means to cut off offensive parts of our feet, right? Then I got to thinking how nice my feet are, and how bad they are when not properly pedicured, and I realised, my happiness with my feet stems from my willingness and confidence to cut parts of them off. I have been born with feet that have a tendency to become torturous and unattractive,…

Simple Eye Makeup Step by Step 3: Bold Mess Eyes

March 17, 2012

Is there an episode of The Simpsons where Homer is eating the chocolate flavour out of a tub of Neopolitan ice cream, finishes it and yells “MARGE! We’re outta ice cream!” and throws the vanilla and strawberry portions away? Well.. it was something like that anyway The reason I ask is because this is analogous to my relationship with the green eye shadows in Urban Decay palettes, for, oh, my entire twenties. And the reason for that is the way I’ve done my make up for absolutely years involves a lot of green eye shadow. Tonnes. A whole big mess of it. I started this step-by-step series because my friends kept asking me how I did my eye make up. This particular way is how I have done my  eye make up for most of my make up wearing life, so it would seem dishonest not to include it. However, it’s not sophisticated,…

Fly like a plane, drive like a car, hold out your hand… I’m gonna paint you green

racing green 003

Boyfriend, looking at my nails: “That is British Racing Green” Me: “I know that because it says it on the bottom of the bottle!” Boyfriend: -looks at me sideways- Me: “Does it really look like British Racing Green?” ~Those of you who know me will know I’d barely recognise a CAR let alone a specific colour of one~ Boyfriend: “I think so, well, sometimes the metallic finish is extra” Me: -Silly grin of expensive car finish nails-   Teehee, my boyfriend makes me goofy I bought this Barry M Nail Paint shade 299 in Racing Green after seeing and admiring it on several blogs. It’s £2.99 in Superdrug and I completely love it. I have only ever had a couple of Barry M polishes but this one is making me wonder why I don’t have lots, lots more. Extreme pinkie nail close up It’s a deep, ever so slightly bluish…
