What Would Bee Buy: Poundland Picks This Week

poundland picks 024

Poundland have some nice cosmetics this week and I didn’t think you’d just want me to tell you about it so I had to buy them so I could show you, yes? Any excuse! There are a couple of different eyeshadow quads from Vita Liberata “Me But Better”. I can’t find out anything about this range online, but they’re pretty colours and nice formulas, excellent for £1 each. I love the colours in this blue/green quad. I couldn’t resist trying out the pinky/mauve one already. The applicator has a brush and a sponge and it seems to be of a nice quality. Do you know anything about this range? I’m wondering if Poundland will have any more of these products – I’ll be looking out for them. Poundland have Revlon nail polishes again. I chose this one – “Princess” which is a pale blue with a very similar formula to “Gold Coin” .…

Nails of the Now: Crackle Metal Glamour

September 4, 2012

nails 021

I didn’t really like crackle nail varnish before this week. I liked it on other people but I didn’t really fancy it on my own nails until I had the brainwave of pairing it with a metallic golden base. I absolutely LOVE this crackle manicure and I can’t stop looking at my nails! I used Revlon “Gold Coin” which is one of my absolute favourite metallic polished because it’s a cool-toned gold that really flatters my cool skin tone. I’ve posted about this polish before  and I really recommend it. I added a clear topcoat, then added the Outdoor Girl Crackle Varnish that I’ve posted about before. This crackle varnish is still available from Poundland for just £1. I sealed the whole lot with Sally Hansen Insta Dri. I left the little fingers on both hands as just gold for contrast, and I like the way it looks. My nails have…

Revlon Colorburst Lip Butter 035 Candy Apple Review

If there’s been any product that’s been covered by beauty bloggers lately, across the Atlantic, all over Europe, anticipated, hyped, expected, purchased, reviewed and recommended, it’s Revlon Lip Butters. I expect they were probably advertised across other media too. I find the saturation level achieved pretty impressive really. I mean, when it comes down to it, the rational part of me can’t help but chime in with “Dude, it’s JUST a LIPSTICK”. That said, it’s inescapable that somehow a desire to own one of these “just a..” lipsticks was born, and here I am bringing you an article all about it. Read on, Macduff… Once upon a time I had a bright red lipstick by The Body Shop. It was the best lipstick I ever had. It was a super bright red shade that was just soft enough not to look vulgar and complimented my skin tone perfectly. Below is a…

So as some of you might have picked up from the mention of shopping trips in Oxford this past week, the Cornwall to Oxfordshire move was accomplished successfully 9 days ago. It was a huge big deal, a new job for beloved boyfriend, a new city for us both, a new little flat, a new temp job for me, all out of the blue and accomplished pretty smoothly considering the timescale and the immensity of the change . Thank you all for being patient as I haven’t been able to post every day, busy-ness and internet connectivity issues kind of go along with moving. This move means great things for Bee Loves Beauty though! Things are going to get much more interesting around here I think, with more perks and prizes for you readers too. The very best thing this move means for Bee Loves Beauty is that I have been…

Beautiful Bargain Brow Kit: Vital Radiance

June 6, 2012

I first bought myself a Vital Radiance Brow Fill In Powder kit about 8 years ago (… that long? Whoa) . Back in those days of bargain hunting and having important beers to spend my student loan on rather than expensive makeup, the Vital Radiance products were a brilliant bargain find. Vital Radiance is an American brand, it’s a Revlon diffusion line for mature skin. It has cheaper price points, more specifically targeted products, nothing wild or bright, just gentle natural colours and soft feeling formulas. I don’t know if it is still in production or current, but they must have way, waaaay overstocked these things a few years ago because every Poundland and Savers and local discount store stocked the line for ages at £1 – £2 an item.  I gave the products a try because I reasoned, well… if these things make a lady in her seventies look vitally radiant they’re…

You win this round, Rimmel. Wake Me Up foundation review.

February 12, 2012

Don’t forget to enter the Clarins Blush Prodige Giveaway on Bee Loves Beauty between 17th and 23rd Feb! If I was going to criticise this blog (which I wouldn’t do because it’s not two months old yet, poor little thing) I’d say that perhaps the products I focus on are a little bit too expensive and high end, so perhaps a little bit too much of a leap of faith for the casual reader. So, when sample sachets of Rimmel’s new Wake Me Up Foundation appeared in this month’s magazines, I thought it was a good excuse to do a Face of The Day with more affordable products than I usually use. I’m SO glad I did this because I’m completely blown away by this foundation. You can read about it here on the Rimmel website and it is currently available for £3 off the normal price of £8.99 at both…

Nailed It

Nailed It

So this is the final episode in the trilogy: Revlon nail enamel in 095 Facets of Fuchsia   This is my first experience with the glittery nail varnish trend. I’ve never tried anything by OPI (quite the confession!)or anything particularly jazzy. I wasn’t tempted by any kind of crackle polish either so this is a new area for me. With the winter drawing in, and Revlon getting in on the sparkly act, it seemed to be the right time to try it. This is a black nail varnish with fuchsia-pink glitter in small and large pieces. I was pleasantly surprised to find it was opaque in 2 coats (although when I applied it properly I used a base coat so that probably helped). It is a very pretty polish, it’s eye catching without being too gaudy or too gothic. It dried quickly and lasted for a good three days before…

Nothing Says Get Well Soon Like Nail Polish

Hi Guys! I had flu recently, but I’m feeling much better. I’m thinking this must be a least 95% thanks to my Mum very kindly sending me a Boots gift card in a “Get Well” card on Friday. Mums ♥ . I decided to indulge in one of my favourite things: Revlon nail polish. I bought three shades (THREE FOR TWO AT THE MOMENT YOU GUYS) in three different finishes 1. Revlon Nail Enamel in 146 Gold Coin 2. Revlon Top Speed Fast Dry Nail Enamel in 607 Hazy 3. Revlon Nail Enamel in 095 Facets of Fuchia Today I’m wearing the 607 Hazy:   note: OMG you guys how do you take pics of your nails without making monstrous clawlike hand poses? I must have tried 20! So… what do you think? This stuff glides on effortlessly and looks ok with one coat, though I used two for a…
