Coolcatjumper14instore19.2.13

Hi everyone Just a bit of window shopping this morning as Instyle has got pics of a few items that are out this month at Primark and I quite fancy a few of them. Let’s have a look…   “Cool cat jumper” out on Wednesday is definitely the pick of them all. Roll on payday! I love an epic maxi skirt when I can get one. I’m hoping to wear a lot of this kind of outfit this year. I think the studs on this sweater are star shaped. I love the colour and the stitch pattern of this knit. I hope it’s not made of bobbly cheap yarn but I bet it is. I’ll definitely check it out in store though. This blouse is kind of nuts but it’s exactly the kind of mad cat lady gear I wear at home on my own… I picked this because it’s…

Click image to visit the site You’ll have to get in quick if you want this offer as it ends at 5pm on Thursday 13th December. Right now MUA are giving 40% off all orders (minimum spend £10) and throwing in 5 free “Nail Quake” shatter nail polishes with every qualifying order. They’re celebrating reaching 40,000 “likes” on Facebook, which is a lot of fans! They’re a great value cosmetics company. If you’re wondering what to spend your £10 on to qualify, the Undressed palette (£4) is still one of my favourites, and the eye primer and blushers hold their own against the most expensive ones in my collection. They’ve also just launched magnetic nail polish for £2.99 and “Nail constellation” effects polishes too. Not included in the promotion, but looking very desirable in their own right, they’re just launched a full range of brushes between £1 and £5 which…

Nails of the Now: Sally Hansen meets Models Own

December 2, 2012

models2 016

When I’m feeling really festive, I love bright fuchsia. When I’m feeling really super, super festive, nothing will do but GOLD.  With this manicure I’ve combined the two to the maximum extent I can fit them on to my nails. Sally Hansen Insta Dri Magenta Motion (Poundland, £1) and Models Own Disco Inferno (Boots, £5) make a blazing, sparkling combination so bright, I feel like you could see my nails from space! The huge, irregular glitter pieces in the Models Own Disco Inferno are a bit of a pain to apply, because if they end up piled atop one another they’ll flake off easily. If you take your time applying, and add a top coat, this manicure lasts at least 4 days before looking ropey. These pictures were taken on Day 3 I think. Extreme Close Up! This glitter is not for the faint hearted, but for a night out…

Nails of the Now: More Magnificent Magnetics

November 28, 2012

Magnetic

I couldn’t resist another Barry M Magnetic Nail Paint. It was the hypno-toad style concentric circles that got me! The fact that Boots cosmetics are all on 3-for-2 again only helped to seal the deal! In the picture above, the index and middle fingers have the new shade “346 – Venus Sunset” which came with the circle design magnet. there were other bottles there of that shade without the circles magnet so I suspect someone had swapped  few lids around – check you have the right one in store! The ring and little fingers have “347 – Magnetic Multi Sparkle” which I reviewed earlier in this post. They’re both excellent – I don’t know which I like more. I took these pictures on a Tuesday after painting my nails on a Saturday, and as you can see there is some tip wear. Underneath my nail polish, my nails are a…

Poundland Pick: Sally Hansen Real Nail Polish Strips

November 15, 2012

sticky nails 024

I picked up four of these fascinating little kits in Poundland last week. Each contains 16 strips of stick-on nail varnish, a nail buffer/file a cuticle stick and a set of clear instructions how to use them. I bought this geometric black and white set and the three below: Super value for a pound each! Do check the packets if you pick up some of these though. My black glittery nail polish strips had half of the strips missing, each pack has two sealed trays of 8 strips each, except that one, which has only one! Grr! 8 strips isn’t enough to do two hands. These graphic designs do look like false nails or stickers, because obviously, this detail of nail-art is difficult with real liquid polish. The other strips I’ve tried look a lot more like nail polish and the chief benefit of them is that they need no…

Nails of the Now: Barry M Gelly Nail Paints

November 2, 2012

I guess it’s no surprise that photographing a nail product designed for its shine in dim light is going to lead to noisy pictures but look, look at the shine on these nail babies! This shade, “Watermelon” is such a sophisticated dark green. It’s like a navy blue except it is green, it appears almost black in dim light and quite colourful in daylight. It is opaque in two coats and has a fresh, shiny finish that’s interesting but totally grown up looking. The “Gelly” nail paints are a limited edition collection from Barry M, £3.99 each and available in a range of colours from this dark colour to some really bright pinks and oranges. I’ve also picked up the “Blackberry” shade – Barry M is on 3-for-2 at Boots at the moment, and it’s also a super-shiny sophisticated nail colour, more blueberry than blackberry coloured in person. This shade needs…

Primark Latest Collection Picks

FURCOLLARSNAKEBIKER26

I was just browsing on the InStyle website and I spotted the latest Primark collection. I know people have mixed feelings about the store but I’m impressed with these pieces for their trendiness, cuteness and great prices (check the InStyle page for prices and dates on these). My favourites are as follows…   Leather/Pleather and faux fur look sooo right at the moment. I must admit to really fancying one of these jackets with the furry collars. Christmas patterns have probably never been so wearable since…the eighties? The seventies? The.. never? This Robin Snood is just £4 and I just love it because it’s an under-the-radar Christmas pattern, it could be just an abstract… it could be some kind of hipster bird like a swallow, but no, it’s a ROBIN a big fat Christmas-assed Robin! Brill skills. Moustache jumper? Hehehe. This dress is all kinds of beautiful. I don’t know…

What Would Bee Buy: Poundland Picks This Week

poundland picks 024

Poundland have some nice cosmetics this week and I didn’t think you’d just want me to tell you about it so I had to buy them so I could show you, yes? Any excuse! There are a couple of different eyeshadow quads from Vita Liberata “Me But Better”. I can’t find out anything about this range online, but they’re pretty colours and nice formulas, excellent for £1 each. I love the colours in this blue/green quad. I couldn’t resist trying out the pinky/mauve one already. The applicator has a brush and a sponge and it seems to be of a nice quality. Do you know anything about this range? I’m wondering if Poundland will have any more of these products – I’ll be looking out for them. Poundland have Revlon nail polishes again. I chose this one – “Princess” which is a pale blue with a very similar formula to “Gold Coin” .…

Coconut Oil – Hints and Tips Wanted!

September 23, 2012
By
dim sunday 022

Hi guys! Coconut oil is half price at Holland and Barrett at the moment, £7.49 for 453g. I’ve heard many good things about this oil and I’ve been wanting to try it for skincare. Since the weather has changed from glorious to ever-so-slightly-nippy, my skin has undergone it’s usual Summer-to-Autumn change where it yells “Surprise! Had you forgotten I’m sensitive and irritable all year except Summer? I hadn’t!”. So, I’ve got myself this big tub of Coconut oil in the hope it might moisturise and soothe in ways that other oils can’t reach. Fingers crossed! I’ve been reading the packaging and it seems this stuff isn’t just good for skin and hair care, it’s also good for eating. I’ve been careful not to contaminate the jar, spooning a sample into a tub with a clean spoon to try out for beauty purposes and keeping the jar safely in the fridge.…

Save Up London – So Glad I Went!

September 16, 2012

Deal Pro

London is a maelstrom, you guys! I’m sure it didn’t used to feel this way. When I was a student, conditioned by a couple of years of living in Reading, boldly going around cities, frequenting nightclubs that mysteriously opened at closing time and then, upon returning to the spot the next day to retrieve a forgotten coat, had vanished again. Compared to my grounding education in that, London was a breeze. I used to go every weekend. “Let’s go to the zoo! The museum! Covent Garden!” and then “Let’s go drinking in Islington, gigging in Camden, let’s go to the theatre!” It was nothing… a walk in the park. A decade on, travelling to my destination in London, my reaction to being back there can be described in one sentence, and it is this: “How can you all, thousands of people, all possibly need to be in the exact same place,…
