Experiencing Decleor Loveliness from Liberty

A few weeks ago I was contacted by a lady who works with Liberty to ask whether I would like to try one of the products they sell and give you an honest review of it. I agreed and a few days later I received this Decleor balm, which was both wrapped in pretty tissue paper and secured in a sturdy envelope – I love receiving well packaged deliveries as I feel it means the sender has taken care that it gets to me in top condition. I’m a total convert to “night” products after my experience with both Clarins Multi Active Night and Lancome Visionnaire has demonstrated to me that the most beneficial thing I can do for my skin is apply something truly effective to it at night. I was delighted to see that this product is a 100% natural aromatherapy balm with no parabens or other artificial ingredients. The product itself comes in a small…

Skincare: My Favourites

September 24, 2012

My skin has been really well behaved lately. I know this probably has quite a lot to do with getting over being ill, coupled with switching to a healthier diet and getting more excercise. It’s kind of sad actually, there’s no substitute for being well and looking after yourself to improve the look of your skin.  That said, supplementing good behaviour with good quality skin care is definitely worth doing. I mentioned on twitter the other day that I’ve definitely found that using a great moisturiser helps the make-up I use look better and last longer, so I can get better results with cheaper products while looking after my skin. Excellent So.. some of the products I’ve been really enjoying in the past few weeks… Clarins Lotion Tonique Alcohol Free Toning  Lotion with Chamomile I bought this when I picked up a huge haul of Clarins products for a bargain price and I…

Coconut Oil – Hints and Tips Wanted!

September 23, 2012
By
dim sunday 022

Hi guys! Coconut oil is half price at Holland and Barrett at the moment, £7.49 for 453g. I’ve heard many good things about this oil and I’ve been wanting to try it for skincare. Since the weather has changed from glorious to ever-so-slightly-nippy, my skin has undergone it’s usual Summer-to-Autumn change where it yells “Surprise! Had you forgotten I’m sensitive and irritable all year except Summer? I hadn’t!”. So, I’ve got myself this big tub of Coconut oil in the hope it might moisturise and soothe in ways that other oils can’t reach. Fingers crossed! I’ve been reading the packaging and it seems this stuff isn’t just good for skin and hair care, it’s also good for eating. I’ve been careful not to contaminate the jar, spooning a sample into a tub with a clean spoon to try out for beauty purposes and keeping the jar safely in the fridge.…

New Clinique Products: Even Better Eyes

September 22, 2012

Image source A couple of weeks ago I went into Boots in Oxford for a “Brighter Eyes” consultation with the lovely Kerry. I’d been really keen to try the new “Even Better Eyes” treatment. As you know from my endlessly going on about it, my under-eye dark circles are my  main beauty bugbear. I could really live without them! When I first read about Even Better Eyes I was intruigued. It’s designed to lighten the colour of the dark areas over time, as well as visually hiding them from first use. It’s a totally different kind of product from Clinique’s “All About Eyes” which I have tried several times but just can’t get to sink in somehow. Even Better Eyes also comes in a nice tube with a cooling metal applicator which helps it feel cooling and de-puffing. I booked in for my mini-eye makeover. Kerry did a great job…

Why my beauty routine is important to me…

Picture a woman. She is tall, in her early thirties, and somewhat overweight. Look closely… She has hair that is almost entirely grey and white, it is thick and wavy, and very frizzy. The roots of her hair are clumped with dandruff and her scalp is sore and it itches. She has a cold sore and her lips are chapped and dry Her eyes, behind glasses for short sight, look piggy and small. She has buck teeth, which are stained yellow, and her breath is bad. Her nose and eyes stream constantly from dust allergies and allergic rhinitis. She sneezes powerfully, up to fifty times every day. Her body is covered almost everywhere with fine, dark hairs. She has allergic skin rashes and eczema, worst at knees and elbows where it scabs and weeps. She has callused feet, and a verucca seemingly burrowing into her bones. Her…

Maybelline Dream Fresh 8-in-1 BB Cream Review

You might remember from my post earlier in the week that I sent off for and received a free sample pack of Maybelline Dream Fresh 8-in-1 BB Skin Perfector from the Maybelline UK Facebook Page. The sample pack contains three small sachets (1ml each) in the “light” shade. Three samples in a row, wait! I’ve used one already… I’ve tried a few BB creams for you already, and interestingly it seems to me that each one I’ve tried, the brand has interpreted what BB should be (as if it should be anything, obviously!) in a different way. There’s the basically just a light foundation interpretation of the Garnier BB Cream and there’s the strange, matte, delightful chameleon interpretation of the L’Oreal Nude Magique BB Cream, and then there is this one. Here is some on my hand. It’s a thin cream texture like a liquid foundation. Interestingly, the sample shade is actually…

What Would Bee Buy: Brilliant Clarins Treats

I was very very lucky to be gifted a £40 “one4all” voucher by some friends a little while ago. It’s a voucher sold by the post office that can be used at loads of retailers, the most exciting ones for me being Boots, Debenhams and House of Fraser I’m usually pretty spendy with gift vouchers, especially when they can be spent on cosmetics, but I thought about this for a little while. It’s actually quite a lot of money! This could be a big item, or a lot of small items… the possibilities! In the end, I decided to go semi-sensible (as if I have any access to sensible when it comes to shopping!) well, you’ll see what I mean. One of the tiny disadvantages of leaving Cornwall for Oxford is that I’m going to be a little less well off for a while. I sat myself down and thought…

Lancôme Icons Gift With Purchase

I was hoping to be able to bring you this post at the beginning of June, but between finishing my old job, getting a (squee!) new job, getting a flat, packing up, argh… I haven’t done a beauty counter run since May! Hard to believe for me I’ve been dying to get my hands on this Lancôme Gift With Purchase and I was lucky enough that my lovely Lancôme ladies at Boots Truro had one to give me although it was the last official day of the offer. There is a rumour that it might be extended so I recommend asking at your Lancôme counter to see if it is, it’s definitely a good one if you get the chance to get it. It comes in a really gorgeous little purse/cosmetic bag with a design by Jenny Packham. My photo doesn’t really do it justice, there’s a nice picture of it on the…

Normal service will… never be quite the same again! Lanolips Review

So.. all this absenteeism probably deserves an explanation, going from daily posting, to every other day, to… where’s Bee??? Well, life just got super busy as it’s been completely turned upside down in the past couple of weeks, so I’m going to beg for patience and understanding until I get daily blogging time back.  It’s all in aid of the very exciting news that Beloved Boyfriend has a new job! And it’s hundreds of miles away in Oxford! And we’re moving! In just a few weeks! Panic! It’s so exciting and brilliant. I can’t wait to leave sleepy Cornwall behind for a while and get to know a town I’ve barely been to, and it will be amazing to be in day trip distance  of London again. I’m looking forward to going to blogging events and beauty events too. This is definitely going to mean bigger and better blogging in…
