Matte-Lipstick-Application-Tips-For-Lips-Not-Looks-Dry

Sometimes I’ll feel a little fashion fatigue – almost like I’ve *seen* every trendy thing and my eyes are tired and it all looks the same and I just don’t care any more. The thing is, what I really love about fashion, is what it always does next. Always, always, I see something differenty, odd and just-so-now and I am restored! Fashion, how could I have doubted you? Instantly I’m excited again and my passion is restored! This week, my fashion passion injection is courtesy of the matte lipstick look which is cropping up everywhere. Brights and darks, opaque, neon and almost chalky, it’s everywhere I look and I’m crazy about it.  Matte lipstick is notoriously difficult to wear, so what is super-cool about this post is that if you click on the three images I’ve used here, the links will take you to the pages on which I found…

Body Shop Lily Cole Lip and Cheek Dome Review

October 2, 2012
By
dim sunday 051

I’m a fan of multi-use products and coral and bright pinks, so I was pretty excited to try these products when I got them in my Save Up goodie bag a couple of weeks ago. Like the Primer, these products are no longer available on the Body Shop site but you can pick them up on eBay for a few pounds. So…  these are a 10ml dome of cream blusher which can also be used as a lip colour. When you first open the product there’s a tiny layer of clear covering over the product, so when you first run it over your skin, there’s no colour at all. After a few swipes you get to the colour but it’s not tremendously pigmented. The pink is more pigmented than the coral, which I was a bit disappointed by as I love a coral blush! Above is the pink, swatched on to my…

What Would Bee Buy: Poundland Picks This Week

October 1, 2012

poundland picks 024

Poundland have some nice cosmetics this week and I didn’t think you’d just want me to tell you about it so I had to buy them so I could show you, yes? Any excuse! There are a couple of different eyeshadow quads from Vita Liberata “Me But Better”. I can’t find out anything about this range online, but they’re pretty colours and nice formulas, excellent for £1 each. I love the colours in this blue/green quad. I couldn’t resist trying out the pinky/mauve one already. The applicator has a brush and a sponge and it seems to be of a nice quality. Do you know anything about this range? I’m wondering if Poundland will have any more of these products – I’ll be looking out for them. Poundland have Revlon nail polishes again. I chose this one – “Princess” which is a pale blue with a very similar formula to “Gold Coin” .…

Free Clinique Gifts With InStyle October 2012 Out Now!

September 2, 2012

instyle clinique 010

Hard to believe the “October” Magazines are out already! They come out in the preceding month. I think I actually picked this issue up on the last day of August, which seems super early to be thinking of October, but there it is! The latest issue of InStyle has a super selection of Clinique miniature free cover gifts to choose from. I picked the Long Last Glosswear in Air Kiss. It’s a 2.3ml  miniature size, but I very rarely use up a lipgloss so this is fine with me! The other selections are High Impact Mascara, Turnaround Overnight Radiance Moisturiser or Repairwear Laser Focus serum. If you flip to the offer page of the magazine itself you can also see that readers are entitled to a free consultation at Clinique counters to try the new Even Better Eyes Dark Circle Corrector (definitely looking forward to trying this) and if you…

Revlon Colorburst Lip Butter 035 Candy Apple Review

If there’s been any product that’s been covered by beauty bloggers lately, across the Atlantic, all over Europe, anticipated, hyped, expected, purchased, reviewed and recommended, it’s Revlon Lip Butters. I expect they were probably advertised across other media too. I find the saturation level achieved pretty impressive really. I mean, when it comes down to it, the rational part of me can’t help but chime in with “Dude, it’s JUST a LIPSTICK”. That said, it’s inescapable that somehow a desire to own one of these “just a..” lipsticks was born, and here I am bringing you an article all about it. Read on, Macduff… Once upon a time I had a bright red lipstick by The Body Shop. It was the best lipstick I ever had. It was a super bright red shade that was just soft enough not to look vulgar and complimented my skin tone perfectly. Below is a…

Normal service will… never be quite the same again! Lanolips Review

So.. all this absenteeism probably deserves an explanation, going from daily posting, to every other day, to… where’s Bee??? Well, life just got super busy as it’s been completely turned upside down in the past couple of weeks, so I’m going to beg for patience and understanding until I get daily blogging time back.  It’s all in aid of the very exciting news that Beloved Boyfriend has a new job! And it’s hundreds of miles away in Oxford! And we’re moving! In just a few weeks! Panic! It’s so exciting and brilliant. I can’t wait to leave sleepy Cornwall behind for a while and get to know a town I’ve barely been to, and it will be amazing to be in day trip distance  of London again. I’m looking forward to going to blogging events and beauty events too. This is definitely going to mean bigger and better blogging in…

I’m delighted to bring you a fabulous guest post from my lovely friend Jo today! As a very clever and wordy lady she doesn’t need a long introduction from me so I shall pass this blog entry over into her capable hands, enjoy! ~~~ Hello everyone! I’ve never guest blogged anywhere before and I’ve never written about make up before, but with the help of the lovely Bee, I’m hoping I can pull off both! The first thing you need to know about me when it comes to make up is that I’m blonde. And I’m not talking choose your own shade, but still have nicely defined dark eyebrows and eyelashes blonde. I’m talking naturally so blonde you have to tilt me right into the light to even notice I have eyelashes blonde. Here is the obligatory no make up pic to illustrate said blondeness (and no, those aren’t hints of ginger you can see!). I’m not…

Superdrug 2True Range 3-for-£5 Review

February 27, 2012
By
tutorial etc 064

Superdrug has had the 2True range in their stores for, oh, years now. They’re a budget beauty brand on a little stand usually tucked away at the back. All items in the range are priced at the same £1.99 each and they’re permanently on a 3-for-£5 multibuy promotion. I have had good success in the past with all the 2True products I’ve bought. I like the nail varnish, particularly shade 42, I really rate the waterproof liquid liner, and the plumping lip gloss and the concealer are good subs for more expensive versions. For the price of one Collection 2000 item you can get 2 or 3 of these and they represent comparable quality – good news. Feeling up for a challenge, I took my 5 pound coins along to Superdrug  to try something new.   From L-R (above) I picked up 2True Colour Drench Lipstick in Shade 1, 2True Crystal…

CK-ing a good deal? Designer eyes, early 90′s prices!

CK-ing a good deal? Designer eyes, early 90′s prices!

A couple of months ago I had this weird bout of nostalgia to the make up I used to wear when I was about 15 or 16. Remember make up back then? Rimmel, Boots 17, only having one or two of each thing and using everything up to the last scrap? Those were the freakin’ days! Ok, they probably look much cooler in hindsight, and having a bazillion cosmetics to choose from these days does have it’s advantages One of the cosmetics that I found I didn’t have was the matte brown shades I used to wear a lot back then. Why did I wear them? EVERYONE had a default kit of brown eyeshadows. Blue eyed girls wore brown eyeshadow in the day and pink, or blue for special  (although I was blue eyeshadow crazy and still am), and peach blusher, and that strange heathery pink shimmery lipstick in the…
