Step by Step: Experimenting with MUA Immaculate Collection

So when my palette arrived yesterday, I had to try it out immediately. I used it with the MUA Professional Eye Primer I also bought and I was really impressed. For this look I’ve used all the blue and greeny shades in the palette, with the dark green/black (third on bottom row) for emphasis.     I’ve taken step by step images of each stage of applying the eye shadow. I was experimenting so there’s not too much logic to it, see what you think…   1. Turquoise base shade over entire lid   2. Greenish blending shade above crease, silvery highlighter up to  brow 3. Green/black shadow to add contour 4.  Stronger blue on centre of lids   5. Extra highlighting and shading 6. Eyeliner (Urban Decay 24/7 Waterproof Liquid Liner) 7. Finished!   With these freebies, you are really spoiling us! Here’s this eye make up as part…

MUA: Bargains, Freebies and Lightning Fast!

I ordered my MUA shopping at 8pm on Thursday, by 1pm on Saturday, I was gleefully unwrapping it!  Eeeexcellent, Smithers! Check it out! This is the palette that was free with my order – usually £8. I’ve had a go with it and it’s bloody brilliant for free, or £8, or just brilliant really – better than I expected even. The colours are really bright and strong and really flattering on my cool (pinkish) skin tone. There’s a mix of mostly pearl and some matte shades. The applicator is just a standard spongey one which is fine, though I used my brushes with it. The case itself is slim and not annoyingly big like some palette cases I won’t mention! I’ve taken a set of photos of various stages of applying these shadows for an eye make up look, I’ll post them soon So… what did I buy to get…

Free Palette Alert! Free is my favourite price!

Quick! If you shop at www.MUAstore.co.uk today you can get a free “Immaculate Collection” palette worth £8 with any order! I tried to resist, I don’t need any more eyeshadows, but free is just too good a price! 1. Add any MUA cosmetics to your cart (I got an eye primer for £2.50 and got a free eyeshadow with it) 2. Add the Immaculate Collection palette to your cart 3. Enter the code FB20000 at the check out 4. Discount will be applied! You pay the postage, which was £2.95, so my total order was £5.45 (saving £9 – bargain!)   If you buy – I really recommend MUA blushers, their nail polishes are great though the brushes are hit and miss, and their lip products, especially the gloss, are great. Basically I like everything they do except their  pencils, and getting 24 eyeshadows free with a £1 purchase is…

Face of the Day: Dark Tulip

This weekend I dyed my hair with my favourite La Riche Directions shade “Dark Tulip”. Adding the deep purple rinse to my hair colour calls for a switching up of my make up shades to compliment the new tones in my hair. Once again I’ve gone for Collection 2000 shades on my eyes, I’ve used the Angelic Palette. I’m so impressed with these Collection 2000 palettes sent to me by my friend Katie from Snugglebubby.com - such a lovely gift thank you! This time I’ve used the green shade on the lid, the silver shade on the browbone and the blue near the lashline. The eyeliner is Collection 2000 Extreme 24h felt tip liner in Teal. There are three Collection 2000 eyeshadow palettes available, each with nine shades, at £4.19 each they’re an absolute steal! That’s less than 47p per shade. OK, you have to build them up a bit, but the…

Face Of The Day: Inspired by my Summer Mama

Above: Quizzical Direct Stare by Genetics, Eyeliner by Collection 2000 I’m very lucky in a way that both my parents are much cooler and better-looking than I’ll ever be. Why? Rebelling against coolness and vivaciousness offers so many more dimensions of expression, while giving you a grounding knowledge that people who appear far-out and stunning are really just people like me. My mum’s make-up, her style and her appearance in general has always been an inspiration to me. We are similar looking except I have pale skin and dark hair, a “Winter colouring” (in the old fashioned parlance of Colour Me Beautiful ) and she has ash-blonde hair and slightly less pale skin, a “Summer Colouring”. Like most cool, beautiful people, she can rock any headgear and revels in doing so. She prefers natural-feeling clothes in soft shades. When I’m looking for inspiration and want to mix things up a bit, I…

Unmissable Eyeliner Alert!

March 30, 2012

liner win 043

I read a lot of beauty blogs and I get all the best information from them – I don’t trust brands half as much as I trust bloggers. When a product is going to be really good, I kind of expect to read a rush of posts raving about it. This is part of the reason why I’m completely blown away by this product. I know it has been reviewed but nothing stuck in my memory as being “OMG BUY IT NOW” so when I saw it in store I was all *shrug*… alright then. Since I have tried it I honestly don’t know why beauty bloggers are not raving like angry cats about it! This £2.99 liquid liner is insanely brilliant! Image taken from http://www.collectioncosmetics.co.uk Collection 2000 Extreme 24 hour felt tip liner is brilliant. I’ve used felt-tip pen liquid liners before and been disappointed. The colour is usually too…

Beauty’s Most Wanted

No proper post tonight because Superdrug have a promotion on the Live XXL colourants at better than half price £2.69 so I can afford to attempt to dye myself purple ahead of the party this weekend! Whee! See the offer here (not affiliated, just pleased)   For a really great beauty post, please head over to Robyn’s blog for her EYELINER TUTORIAL with video and step by step bullet points! From the comments I see around, Eyeliner tutorials are probably the most wanted thing in beauty blogging, so I know a few of you will definitely want to check it out.   Since I get a few hits searching for it, I thought I’d share these pictures of the Outdoor Girl Crackle Polish I picked up at Poundland a few weeks ago… This is over the top of the Barry M Nail Paint 309 “Strawberry Ice Cream” with a top coat…

Simple Eye Makeup Step by Step 3: Bold Mess Eyes

March 17, 2012

Is there an episode of The Simpsons where Homer is eating the chocolate flavour out of a tub of Neopolitan ice cream, finishes it and yells “MARGE! We’re outta ice cream!” and throws the vanilla and strawberry portions away? Well.. it was something like that anyway The reason I ask is because this is analogous to my relationship with the green eye shadows in Urban Decay palettes, for, oh, my entire twenties. And the reason for that is the way I’ve done my make up for absolutely years involves a lot of green eye shadow. Tonnes. A whole big mess of it. I started this step-by-step series because my friends kept asking me how I did my eye make up. This particular way is how I have done my  eye make up for most of my make up wearing life, so it would seem dishonest not to include it. However, it’s not sophisticated,…

Lancome Hypnôse Doll Eyes Mascara Review

March 13, 2012

DSC_0678

This lucky Bee was kindly given a  sample of Lancome Hypnose Doll Eyes Mascara to try this weekend I’ve read good things about Hypnôse so I was really excited to try it. I’m wondering how to pronounce Hypnôse actually, does anyone know? I’m thinking it’s “eeepnosss” – although I’ve not heard it pronounced properly. This 2ml sample tube is the size that is usually included in their Gift With Purchase goodie bags. Small, but good for quite a few uses. The most interesting thing about this for me is the brush. Look! It’s both a precise small brush at the tip and a thick volumising brush further down. It’s the best of both brush worlds. Seeing it I suddenly thought “Hey! Why aren’t other brushes like this?” On the Boots site there are some instructions on how to apply it: 1)Place the brush on the centre of the lash fringe. Let…
