Body Shop Lily Cole Lip and Cheek Dome Review

I’m a fan of multi-use products and coral and bright pinks, so I was pretty excited to try these products when I got them in my Save Up goodie bag a couple of weeks ago. Like the Primer, these products are no longer available on the Body Shop site but you can pick them up on eBay for a few pounds. So…  these are a 10ml dome of cream blusher which can also be used as a lip colour. When you first open the product there’s a tiny layer of clear covering over the product, so when you first run it over your skin, there’s no colour at all. After a few swipes you get to the colour but it’s not tremendously pigmented. The pink is more pigmented than the coral, which I was a bit disappointed by as I love a coral blush! Above is the pink, swatched on to my…

Since I am now the owner of my very first YSL Touche Eclat highlighter, I decided to theme my makeup today based on products I knew I could rely on to give me a great result. No hit-and-miss, no dodge-and-smudge. These are products I can trust to still look brilliant at the end of the day, even if I don’t get to look in the mirror from dawn until dusk. I’m wearing… Clarins Everlasting Foundation in shade 109 “Wheat” Collection 2000 Lasting Perfection Concealer in Shade 2 YSL Touche Eclat Complexion Highlighter in Shade 1 Urban Decay Eyeshadow Primer Potion Original Calvin Klein Eyeshadow in Moonstone (all over lid to browbone) Boots 17 Eyeshadow mono in Gold Emerald (lid only) Urban Decay 24/7 Waterproof Liquid Liner in Perversion Benefit “They’re Real!” Mascara L’Oreal Contour Kohl Pencil in Chrome Brown (Brows) MeMeMe Blush Box in Rouge Chanel Rouge Coco Lipstick in…

In Praise of Bronze: L’Oreal Glam Bronze, your weekend awaits!

The sun has absolutely got his BEAMIN hat on today and it’s shaping up to be a gorgeous weekend, so I think it’s about time we talked about a bronzer. Way, way back in the mists of the forgotten season that is Winter, L’Oreal did a really good Gift With Purchase in Boots at Christmas. So good that I expect many of you got it too. Looking back I can scarcely believe how good it was. There was a full size gorgeous nude lipstick, a full size Contour Kohl eye pencil (which I have used almost daily since) and a full size Glam Bronze Trio in Blondes. There were some sample sachets and money off coupons in it too, all when you spent £15  which I needed to do anyway get in! I sampled it and swatched it and tried it not long after Christmas, which is when I took…

It seems I really DO love beauty!

It seems I really DO love beauty!

Tomorrow marks two months since my first post here. This is my 56th published post in two months! I didn’t really have an expectation of keeping this up regularly or posting very often but it seems I have managed to think of a few things to say and it’s been quite fun so far   To celebrate this little success I’ll be giving away a gorgeous prize to one lucky reader in a draw starting tomorrow evening . Image from Escentual.com Clarins Blush Prodige Illuminating Cheek Colour is one of the most covetable blush products out there. When I saw the adorable Yu from “Let’s Make Yu Up” feature this in a video post on her blog I wanted one myself so bad! So that’s why – when I was trying to think of a good prize for my celebration giveaway – it leapt immediately to mind! I’ve bought myself far too much…

FOTD: Simple and natural… that doesn’t sound right ;)

FOTD: Simple and natural… that doesn’t sound right ;)

I always think of brown eye makeup and pink blush and lipstick as a natural look for me. I think this is because of my skin and hair colour, the dark bits on my face are my brows, lashes and hairline, so using that colour for emphasis seems a “natural” choice. When I actually blush (much to my adolescent mortification) I turn a bright cheeky pink, when I bite my lips the colour is pink too. Depending on your skin’s palette, your “natural” colour picks will vary. You can check by pinching your cheeks, biting your lips and examining the roots of your hair but please be careful and do it gently – no busted spider veins ladies   To create this natural look I’ve used the following products: Clarins Extra Firming foundation in 105 Nude Boots 17 palette “All About Nude” cream blusher Mac Studio sculpt concealer NW20 Boots…

Wantables – lovely beauty things

Something I love about beauty products is the detail. Sometimes products aren’t just appealing formulas to put on your skin,  but they’re nice objects as well. Something you buy to use often, to touch and hold it, it’s so much nicer when it looks and feels good too. This is definitely a consideration for my friends who buy a lot of premium cosmetics. You don’t want to reach into your designer handbag and pull out a cruddy lipgloss with the label peeling off, right? It’s not only premium brands that have gorgeous and sexy packaging though. Like the blusher from Sleek Cosmetics in “Life’s a Peach”. It was love at first sight when I saw it in Superdrug last week. I’d been pining for the discontinued Urban Decay blush in “Score” when i spotted it and given that it was only £4.19 and oh_so_beautiful I just couldn’t leave it there.…

Irresistible blush for £1 – MUA Blusher from Superdrug

Image from www.Superdrug.com OK, I admit it – I’m in love. I’m in love with the MUA Blushers from Superdrug . It’s probably a little weird to fall in love with a make up product. I mean it happens, men marry inflatable dolls, women turn insane for shoes, I just didn’t think I was that kind of girl… I was wrong. I LOVE MUA blushers, like this one in “Shade 1″  and I just can’t believe they’re only £1 each. I’m so in love with this thing I can’t even smile I guess, looking at the state of me in this photograph! But don’t look at my pout, LOOK AT THE BLUSHER, THE BLUSHER! The shades are beautiful, long lasting and utterly pigment-packed. It’s such a pretty shade I keep catching my reflection in the mirror and being all like “Heeeey, good looking!” and then I DO smile, because despite these…
