Stila Foundation Sponges at Poundland

What’s in the box?

High quality sponges are great for applying compact foundation, powder and other products, and decent ones can be pretty expensive, so I was pretty pleased to find these gems at Poundland on Monday.

Excellent Photobomb from my handknitted Sackboy above!

Each white box contains three boxes of two powder foundation sponges, so that’s six high quality make up sponges for £1!

The sponges themselves are packaged in individual plastic packets for hygiene, and when you open it, they feel that mid point between spongey and rubbery which is the nicest texture for applying powder foundation and similar products.

Very pleased to find something so useful there – I need to replace the sponges in my MAC compacts and I wasn’t enjoying the prices in stores that sell suitable replacements. I’ll be going back to Poundland for another rummage a.s.a.p!

Have you found any good bargains lately? Let me know in the comments!

I’ve been loving using sponges to apply foundation. My brushes, of which I have various types and styles and levels of quality, just don’t seem to turn out right on my face, perhaps I’m using too much, I’m really not sure, but the sponge ensures a much more even flawless application for me! I’ll have to hot-foot it to Poundland tomorrow (not today, the excess-cider goblins are present within me!) to pick up some Stila bargains!

For a successful application of foundation with a brush, you need to only use the tips of the brush and a very small amount of product, for example, warming some up on your hand and picking it up with the tip of the brush from there. I find that a little wasteful as my hand gets most of it so I generally compromise by applying with my fingers to my face and finishing with the brush once it is nearly blended. I use a Daniel Sandler Waterbrush from Escentual http://www.escentual.com/daniel-sandler/danielsandler046/ it is designed for liquid blusher but works with my foundations and it is reduced to just £5.

There’s no real *need* to use a brush though, sponges work well too! Did you find any Stila?

Sponges do seem so much easier to use than brushes :)

Let me know if you find them!
