Bee Loves… The Internet!

In a change to our scheduled programming, I’m going to bring you some things from the internet that I have enjoyed lately!

I will bring you beauty stuff tomorrow, deal?

1. Being Awesome On The Internet
It may be impossible for some to remember a time when it wasn’t cool to like Wil Wheaton. For some of you it may be impossible to remember who he is but since he used to be in Star Trek and has been promoted to a sort of unofficial mayor of certain territories of the internet, if you’re even a little bit geeky, you’ll know who I mean. Well, as long ago as it was, readers, I do remember a time when it was a little bit less cool to like him, but there I was, in 1992, liking him anyway. As a 12 year old kid (and an 11 year old, 10 year old…yadda yadda) I was picked on and bullied a lot. I don’t think I deserved it, bullies are y’know, kinda just being d*cks?
So, 20 years on, the Geeks have inherited the world (wide web) and it’s really so awesome to see my childhood hero standing up for something so simple, so obvious, as his catch phrase “Don’t be a Dick
He’s been preaching the righteous message of not being a dick for years now, however, the Wheaton internet machine has now made 29th July (his recent 40th birthday, one day before my 32nd so I’ll remember the date, calendar fans!) The Official Don’t Be A Dick Day.
The day may be passed for this year (I was too sick to bring you an update that day, sad times) but not being a dick is for life, not just for DBAD Day. I hope you’ll join me in celebrating non-dickishness the whole year through.
If you’re not already, follow @wilw for, well, forever!
Goats celebrate it, Bees celebrate it, even educated fleas do it…

3. Creeper Shoes

I’ve never liked them before – they just looked weirdly ugly to me but suddenly Creepers Look Awesome and I want some! What gives?

Have any of you guys got shoes like this? Are they comfortable? Are they super mannish and clunky? I must know!

4. Gin Manicures and the other mad ass beauty articles on xoJane

Keeping Wheaton’s Law firmly in mind (see 1. above) I love to wade into reading the beauty articles and comments on xoJane.com

It’s a free for all in there! People like stuff! People hate stuff! People try crazy stuff! There is Oh So Much Drama

It’s a riot in there. Occasionally a mean one though so do remember to be the goat (above) if you do go.

5. Knitting yarn and nail varnish Together At Last

Ever wanted to buy yarn for hand warmers, packaged with a perfectly coordinating premium nail varnish? Well now you can. It’s true it is in the US, and they’re not cheap no sir, but I love this idea as a gift, as a handcraft, and as a way to make everything about nail varnish. I’m hoping to see something like it closer to home.

…and finally

These things aren’t on the internet at all but I wanted to show you…

I got this killer fish dress in the Primark sale for a tenner! Look at all the fish! Imagine how cheap it is in pence-per-fish!  So happy!

And on one final note, I noticed this week that there are Stila cosmetics in Poundland. Including foundation and powder foundation for darker skins, as always, everything is £1 so that’s such a bargain! I also picked up a Sally Hansen Color Quick Chrome Nail Color Pen there which is definitely the most metallic and chrome-y chrome nail varnish I’ve ever had. Snap them up, ladies!

OK, I’ve rambled on and on and on. I hope you like it. Beauty tomorrow – promise!
