Nails of the Now: NYC Madison Avenue

If there’s any shade that a line of cosmetics would be incomplete without, it’s a super-bright red that leans to pink but is still red. Like the quintessential Revlon Red it’s one of those colours that make up is all about.

This nail varnish is New York Colour’s take on this shade, and they’ve named it “Madison Avenue” which I think is kind of a perfect name for the colour :)

This is a really rocking red shade that is eyecatching and bold. What I really like about it is that it appears simple and just red but when you look closely it has tiny flecks of glittery shimmer in it. The reason this is a great thing is that I find that flat/creme red shades make my already big nails look weirdly big but a tiny bit of sparkle seems to visually slim and dainty them up.

It’s almost totally opaque with two coats and doesn’t need three. You can get a sense of the tiny sparkles in the above shot.

In the above close-up you can see the individual flecks. Subtle but effective!

It’s also nice in  indoor light :)

If there’s anything bad about this polish, its that it doesn’t last very long on my nails. It tends to chip after a couple of days. This isn’t the end of the world, especially if you change your nail colour as often as I do.
NYC’s “In a New York Minute”  Quick Dry Nail Polish is £2.59 but it’s currently at the even better price of £1.79 from Superdrug.

Do you fancy it? Do you rock red nails? Is it vintage, or is it now?

Gosh, those look gorgeous! Looks like the weather really worked for your photoshoot, too. ;) I’m certainly tempted – especially for that price – but fear they might not match my lipstick, vibrant though that is…

What can I say? I’m a goth – colour this vibrant scares me. :P

The sun came out for 0.2 nanoseconds for the pictures :) I’m trying to be cleverer with the camera now I have a bit more time and some outside space, so I’m glad you liked the pics :)

They are certainly vibrant, and not really gothy (perhaps paired with red eyeshadow though…?). Not to worry, more goth friendly shades coming up in future for sure :)
