Hey beauty fans! So sorry for the silence around these parts. I really have been quite ill this week and now have been prescribed antibiotics and told to rest! Don’t you just hate that? I’ve got loads of interesting beauty stuff to bring you but I’m having trouble managing much more than watching (and loving!) the Olympics right now. It’s my 32nd birthday today! To celebrate this Beloved Boyfriend took me out shopping on Saturday and he bought me two of the lovely products from my Most Wanted list!   MAC Transparent Finishing Powder I’ve been lusting after this product for ages as it seems such a great idea, a product that sets the foundation without adding a layer of pigment of its own. It’s really invisible in use, the MAC lady showed us. I think my charming benefactor was a bit bemused to pay £19.50 for something so demonstrably…

It’s suddenly Summer! Instantly my Winter-in-July current wardrobe seems ridiculous! I’ve had a look at the summer sales online and found some of my favourites that I thought you guys might like too. Let me know what you think of these   I LOVE a bright coloured canvas foot in this weather. It’s so comfortable and summery and bright. These Rocket Dog Angie pumps are reduced from £32.99 to £20 and may just be sneaking into my shopping basket this week… These Orient heels are JULY all over! They’re so cute and stripey and hehe a little trashy and just work in the hot. Pity I couldn’t walk in them to save my life! They’re reduced from £44.99 to £30 in the sale. BHS is a great place to go sale shopping as they have such a mix of brands in their big stores. My favourite dress in their sale is this one: The Sodamix…

Nails of the Now: Elle Grey and Misstique Blue

July 24, 2012

Can I call in sick to my blog? I almost can’t believe that catching a simple cough has me feeling so rough!  Still, I have made it to my desk to share todays nails with you. Hopefully I’ll be well enough to do a more detailed post tomorrow. What do you think? The grey shade is the Elle Grey by Mavala, a really brilliant nail polish that was free with Elle magazine a few months ago. The brilliant blue is my much-loved Misstique by Missguided. I got it free with a magazine last year but you can buy it as part of a set of 3 for £1o at Missguided.co.uk. It’s such a gorgeous colour with such a brilliant finish. It’s probably my favourite of all my nail polishes at the moment If you’d like to see my first post about this shade it’s here and my post about the orange shade in…

Heads Up for an Excellent Hair Deal at Boots!

July 23, 2012

Frizzease

Hey guys, hope you all had an excellent weekend. I’ve just popped in to let you know about an offer I spotted browsing yesterday and I was so silly-excited I actually went into Boots at 8.30 this morning to check it out for myself. I love professional haircare products at Boots, particularly John Frieda products, but at around £7 each they are quite expensive. This is why I was so stoked to see the offer: 3 for £10 on Professional Haircare THREE for £10! That’s like £3.33recurring each! Excellent! I’ve recently stocked up on John Frieda Shampoo and Conditioner so I didn’t need to get any of that. The three products I chose were: Shine and Fragrance Mist from James Brown London. Usual Price £7.14. I wanted to try something like my beloved Label M Shine Spray for a little less money! John Frieda Frizz Ease Thermal Protection Serum. Frizz Ease was…

What Would Bee Buy: Premium Foundations YSL, Clarins and more

Hi guys! It’s been such a long week. I’m really looking forward to having a glass of wine and putting my feet up. Town is absolutely crowded with tourists not enjoying the rain (I don’t blame them) so I’ve taken refuge on the internet this afternoon instead of hitting the shops. This week House of Fraser have 10% off beauty purchases when you shop online so it’s a good time to pick up a big ticket purchase like a premium foundation, if you were thinking of getting one the offer goes until Wednesday 25th.   I’ve picked out my five favourite premium foundations as a little summary of the reviews of them I’ve posted… 1. Clarins Everlasting Foundation Clarins Everlasting Foundation is my absolute favourite full coverage, long lasting foundation. I have dry combination skin but this covers and lasts amazingly without drying or irritating and looks great. Above is the Clarins Everlasting…

Nails of the Now: Gosh 550 Purple Heart

July 19, 2012

One of the first guest posts on this site was a super enthusiastic recommendation from Lana of Gosh’s Purple Heart Nail Varnish. Given her wonderful description and the fact that it is really hard to photograph, I really had to try this for myself! Lana said… In it’s bottle it’s a beautiful mystical myriad of purples, golds and greens, it does in fact look like someone melted down a bunch of magpie tail feathers and bottled it. It is just so vibrant, I could spend hours just staring at the bottle alone! In action it’s a tiny bit more subtle, most of the time you will have a perfectly ordinary looking violet until the light hits it just right and you get a fabulous bottle green with a hint of gold at the edges, the more coats you apply the more this effect will show. I have to agree! It’s…

Face of the Day: Glory Palette and YSL Touche Éclat Foundation

I love the eyeshadows in the Sleek MakeUP Glory Palette so much I might do a post with each shade (eventually!). This one is about the green shade “District” in action. It’s such a strong, lovely green colour. So easy to apply, buttery and pigmented, stays where it is put without noticeable fallout. Excellent stuff! I really love this eyeshadow. Even to the slightly mad extent of pairing it with red lipstick! What do you think – red and green? Just call me Mrs. Santa Claus I guess! I was trying to find a new facial expression (above) I’m not sure I pulled it off… As well as bright green eyeshadow, and bright red lip gloss, I’m also wearing the Touche Eclat Foundation that I reviewed a few days ago. This product is really growing on me as the colour is so lovely. It’s a characteristic of expensive foundations like the Chanel…

Land of Sleek and Glory: Sleek Glory Palette Review

July 18, 2012

DSC_0853

I am absolutely thrilled with my purchase of the Sleek MakeUP 2012 Collection Glory I-Divine palette. It’s one of those times when I thought it was going to be good, but it was actually brilliant. Love when that happens It comes in a Britannia-themed box which I really like. The box shows medals in shades similar to those featured inside but doesn’t give much away about the brights concealed within. The back of the box – the ingredients are listed. They are mineral eyeshadows and they contain minerals, pigments and preservatives. Out of the box, the Sleek palette is the shape and size of the usual I-Divine palettes but it is a special edition so the design is slightly different. I love a special edition, I’ll admit it. I love tie-ins with the Olympics, the Jubilee, the Tour de France, whatever! Why? Well, I think it’s especially this year. As…

Keep Calm and Marry On: Pretty Invitations from Paper Themes

July 17, 2012

DSC_0837

Not long before I moved house I was contacted by Paper Themes to ask if I’d like to have a look at their wedding stationery and let you know what I thought of it on my blog. I thought about this for a minute as it is essentially off topic, but then I thought about the readers of this blog whom I know personally, lots of you are engaged, getting married, married already, renewing vows, maids of honour, best men (even!) so I thought it wouldn’t hurt to have a look. I’m unmarried at the impressive age of 31, and I’ve never looked in to this before – I thought it was possible you might not have looked at wedding stationery before either, so I’m bringing you these to have a look at, and if anyone else would like me to have a look at their wedding products, step on up…

Revlon Colorburst Lip Butter 035 Candy Apple Review

July 17, 2012
By
DSC_0806

If there’s been any product that’s been covered by beauty bloggers lately, across the Atlantic, all over Europe, anticipated, hyped, expected, purchased, reviewed and recommended, it’s Revlon Lip Butters. I expect they were probably advertised across other media too. I find the saturation level achieved pretty impressive really. I mean, when it comes down to it, the rational part of me can’t help but chime in with “Dude, it’s JUST a LIPSTICK”. That said, it’s inescapable that somehow a desire to own one of these “just a..” lipsticks was born, and here I am bringing you an article all about it. Read on, Macduff… Once upon a time I had a bright red lipstick by The Body Shop. It was the best lipstick I ever had. It was a super bright red shade that was just soft enough not to look vulgar and complimented my skin tone perfectly. Below is a…
