I’ve been on my own at home for a week now, and I don’t mind telling you, I’ve gone a little strange.
Yesterday I decided to dig out some of my brightest eyeshadows and try out a big BIG eye look that would frighten me whenever I caught my reflection in the mirror for the rest of the day

Drag make-up doesn’t come naturally to me, even if I try to channel Annie Lennox while wielding my eyeshadow brush. I’m pretty sure the reason for this is that men’s facial features are, in general, pretty big. My facial features are undeniably pretty small (Eddie Izzard, how I envy you!) giving me a smaller space to fit in all those dramatic curves and highlights a proper show-off eye demands.
Given an endless afternoon of nothing to do, I thought I’d give it a shot anyway

I only “overdid” the eyes for this look but I want to give an honourable mention to the Rimmel Wake Me Up foundation AGAIN because boy, this stuff never lets me down. I’m using the shade 200 “Soft Beige” all the time now as my skin has lost it’s “deathly” winter pale (despite very little sun) and I don’t need to mix it with shade 100 to get a good match. It really works brilliantly, I only need to apply a little bit and my skin just look SO much better. Rimmel, you are punching way above your weight with this stuff!

For the exagerrated eyeshadow I primed with Benefit Stay Don’t Stray and used my Urban Decay eyeshadow transforming potion to change the eyeshadows I was using from powder to long lasting liquid makeup, painted on with the potion brush.
The pink is Urban Decay Deluxe Eyeshadow in Sting
The blue is Famous by Sue Moxley Eye Shadow Shimmer Shade 10 (this range is relaunching at the moment, lots of lovely bargains to be had here).
And the green is Revlon Matte Eyeshadow in 004 Luscious Lime, which I picked up at Poundland in Oxford.

I’ve lined my upper eyelids with Urban Decay 24/7 Waterproof Liquid Liner in Peversion and my lower lids with Jemma Kidd Make Up School I-Glamour Define Eyeliner in 01 Black which is a freebie with this month’s Red Magazine. The mascara is Benefit’s “They’re Real!”

For the finishing touches I applied L’Oreal Contour Kohl in Chrome Brown to my eyebrows, MUA blusher in shade 01 to my cheeks and Chanel Rouge Coco in 07 Chalys to my lips. I LOVE Chanel lipcolours. I think if I had to choose one brand of lip product to use exclusively forever, Chanel would be it!
So, I feel like this mega-eyes drag inspired look was slightly successful, but I definitely need more practice to get it right. Would you like to see more excessively made up looks on Face of the Day, or are you all about the wearability?
Let me know in the comments

That’s utterly cool! I can’t carry off bold makeup at all, or at least I dont have the confidence to, but I LOVE seeing what other people do, and this looks amazing! Whilst my personal choice is all about wearability, I do really enjoy posts like this because it does inspire me to at least look at some of the slightly wilder eyeshadows I have, even if I don’t wear them!
